Position Description
The aim of the study is to determine the efficacy of Written Exposure Therapy for reducing severity and incidence of suicidal behaviors in comparison to treatment as usual delivered on a psychiatric inpatient ward. Study recruitment is occurring at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center located on the military installation of Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The fellow will receive expert training and supervision in delivering from the Principal Investigator Dr. Brian Marx.
This position will support the STRONG STAR clinic at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. Under the leadership of the UT Health San Antonio, the STRONG STAR Consortium is a multi- institutional, multidisciplinary research group of over 150 collaborating national scientists and clinicians funded by the DoD, the Department of Veterans Affairs, The National institutes of Health, and private foundations to develop and evaluation approaches for the prevention and treatment of combat-related PTSD and other deployment related psychological health conditions.
Position Requirements
Qualifications for this position include a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Previous experience with military service members, veterans, or beneficiaries, prior experience working on a psychiatric inpatient ward or treating patients with suicidal behavior are preferred but all applications are welcomed.
