Position Description
NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Ching-Kang Jason Chen (https://labs.uthscsa.edu/chen/) to study retinal signaling pathways in the Departments of Molecular Medicine and Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), located in the city of San Antonio at the foothill of the Edwards Plateau in South Texas. The lab is supported by NEI R01 grants, UT STARs, and RRF to study the mechanism and functions of a novel phototransduction pathway in the mouse retina. This project relies heavily on electrophysiology and mouse genetics and therefore offers plenty training opportunities in discipline integration and procedural development, not to mention the generation of exciting and novel knowledge and reagents. Position Requirements
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, with noticeable bench and communication skill that contribute to the advancement of the projects. Experience in patch-clamp and whole-cell recordings is preferred, but not necessary. In addition to competitive salary (>$60K/year) and fringe benefits, successful candidates will be provided with ample supports for developing her/his independent research projects . All postdoctoral appointments are security sensitive positions subject to background check.
