Position Description
Multiple postdoc positions are available in the laboratories of Drs. Xiaoli Sun and Peng Zhao at the Dept. of Pharmacology, Dept. of Biochemistry and Structural Biology, Mays Cancer Center, and Transplant Center. The positions are open until filled.
Our labs combine basic science with clinical knowledge to understand the pathophysiology of chronic diseases and identify novel therapeutic targets for more effective disease therapies (Zhao, et al, Cell 2018; Sun, et al, Cell Metabolism 2020; Zhao, Sun, et al, Science 2020). We analyze human samples and employ genetically engineered mouse models to identify key players in disease and understand disease initiation and progression. The combination of these systems with technologies including next-generation sequencing, single-cell technology, proteomics, and lipidomics is providing striking new insights into disease mechanisms at the molecular and cellular levels. Please refer to our website to find out more about our exciting ongoing research programs (https://www.zhao-sun-lab.org/).
Position Requirements
Candidates should have or be expecting a Ph.D. or M.D. degree. Researchers with previous experience in atherosclerosis, vascular diseases, metabolic diseases and related cancer, molecular biology, and bioinformatics are preferred. Candidates from the broad biomedical research areas are also encouraged to apply.
How to Apply
Please email your cover letter and CV to Drs. Xiaoli Sun (sunx1@uthscsa.edu) and Peng Zhao (zhaop@uthscsa.edu) for further discussion. We look forward to working together with talented and motivated postdoc fellows!
